People’s Palace
There’s a reason behind the name and it is Obvious the minute you step into its doors-a polite, accommodating, and gracious staff awaits you and treats you like a royal-just like in a palace. This restaurant offers a traditional Thai menu set in a modern and simple ambiance with mosaic-tiled walls with earth tones. The menu is not very expansive but it summarizes Thai Cuisine competently-any-thing you order in the menu will definitely please you. On top of the list would be the Prawn, Pomelo & Coconut Salad. It’s refreshing with the nuttiness and spiciness of coriander, mint, peanuts and the creaminess of coconut. The combination is just ideal; and Crispy Pork Salad with Thai vinaigrette, shallots, basil and nuts, a great balance of sourness and sweetness. The Thai Fish Cakes are great to start with, accompanied by cucumber salad; Thai Satay with Peanut Sauce may be found in other Thai restaurants, but People’s Palace’s version is just worth trying together with their bottomless rice. One must not ignore its varied juices because their Lemongrass Juice is charming and the Iced Pandan Juice fantastic. A great conclusion to your meal would be the Home-made Lemongrass ice cream, with sweet Philippine mangoes and coconut glass biscuit; the combination of the tartness of lemon grass and freshness of mangoes deserves a loud applause.
It is recommended to make a reservation, as this establishment is busy most of the time. An eating expedition here is worth the drive to Malate even on a rainy day.
