President Restaurant

As big as china and just as busy, Chinatown’s premier event restaurant plays host to family parties, business meetings, and, even visits from the President. Forget dimsum snacks and tiny afternoon teas. When one (dines at President, prepare to dine BIG.

Among the appetizers, try the squid served on a bed of asparagus, an interesting duet whose individual flavors are enhanced by a bit of ginger. For another interesting appetizer, have the Mango Pie-deep-fried custard coated bread crumbs wrapped wound a mango slice. Its novelty and sweetness will make anyone giddy with delight (strange that it was served with aioli).

One must also have the Steamed Crabs. At President, they are done perfectly: fresh crab steamed in its own juices, the white meat still carrying the faint smell of the sea. Another must-have dish is the Steamed Lapu-Lapu (snapper): fish prepared without fuss in a light soy/sesame seed sauce. Again, served fresh and full to the bite!

If one would rather have fowl, try the Fied Pigeon-fat, savory, and chewy. For a more traditional meal, have the egg noodles tossed with oysters, mushrooms, squid, chicken, spring onions, peanuts and quail eggs; heady treats and extremely oily as well.
