Prince of Jaipur
You could start your food trip to India with the usual Papadums (traditional Indian cracker) and a helping of Samosas. The samosas are hot and flaky; the taste is delicate and not too overpowering with the right balance of savory and spicy. After which one could go for Tandoori Skewers which consists of four skewer sticks, namely: Beef, Paneer (cottage cheese), Fish and Chicken. The flavors of the different skewers are nice, except when we tried the beef, which was a tad salty. The Paneer (cottage cheese)-which is made in-house-goes very well with a wedge of lemon.
Try the Lamb Curry and the Butter Chicken: the lamb is mildly spicy, it also smells wonderful, thanks to its curry aroma, and surprisingly, the lamb didn’t have that heavy aftertaste. The Butter Chicken was equally fragrant and rich, hints of coconut milk and butter glazed the palate. The curries were served with the traditional Rotti, which is flaky and warm; it just shreds evenly, which reminds us of the rottis in London (good memories indeed!).
The meal can be finished with the Malai Kulfi (Indian Ice cream). The dessert has just the right balance of creamy and sweet, that it cleanses the palate very well, especially after you had been eating a spicy meal and want a break from it.
Overall, the restaurant is a good place to go if one is craving for the delicacies of India, but be warned that the prices are quite high. Reservations are recommended but not necessary. They have an extensive wine list that would suit your budget and there is an in-house boutique if you feel that you need more retail therapy.
