A chocolate lovers’ dream, this busy cafè tempts us with liberal lashings of Belgium’s finest Callebeaut chocolate. From the briliantly constructed chocolate beverages alcoholic and non-alcoholic), to the chocoate desserts and the display cabinets of Bernard Callebeaut’s chocolate masterpieces, it is obvious that chocolate is taken very seriously here.

The well-balanced menu ensures that there is something for everyone. With Chef Goulda’s recommendation, we decided to sample some dishes that involved chocolate. To start we had a Caesar Salad topped with a light shaving of white chocolate and toasted almonds. This serves to liven up the salad and the flavors work well together. We also tried the Mozzarella Fresca to start, fresh Italian mozzarella and confit tomato wrapped in grilled eggplant with a mountain of perfectly dressed baby romaine lettuce, one of their best sellers due to its simple elegance. Australian Beef Tenderloin is accoompanied by garlic mashed potato and a red wine bitter chocolate sauce, this variation of a classic Spanish sauce works brilliantly with the perfectly cooked beef. Prawns with a lightly spiced coconut and white chocolate sauce were another example of the chefs’ interesting usage of chocolate with all ingredients balancing harmoniously together. For dessert we were presented with Chocolate Fondue, white and dark molten chocolate ganache that was accompanied by a selection of fruit, banana bread and toasted savaradi biscuits: a very decadent dessert for two. We also had the Chocolate Cheese cake which was served with fruit salad, caramelized walnuts and crème anglaise.

Part of an international franchise represented in London, Sydney, Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong, it is not surprising that the quality of this cafe is world class.
